Privacy Policy

Last updated 30 July 2026  ·  terrygormley.com

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use terrygormley.com — including when you register for the Value, Build & Sell live workshop, use the business valuation calculator, or join the newsletter — how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Terry Gormley, trading under Mindshaper Academy Ltd ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy — meaning we decide how and why it is used.

You can reach us any time at [email protected] or via terrygormley.com/contact-us.

2. The information we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Contact details — your name, email address and (where a form asks for it) phone number, when you register for the workshop, join the newsletter, use the enquiry form, or download a resource.
  • Payment information — when you buy a workshop seat, payment is taken at checkout by our payment provider. We receive confirmation of your purchase, but we never see or store your full card details.
  • Business information you choose to enter — the valuation calculator asks for figures such as revenue and profit so it can estimate a value range. If you ask for your results by email, those figures are stored alongside your contact details so we can send and discuss them.
  • Anything you send us — messages through the contact form, replies to our emails, and questions or comments during a live workshop.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, links clicked, approximate location (from IP address), device and browser type. This comes from cookies and similar technologies described in section 8.
  • Email engagement — whether emails we send are opened and which links are clicked, so we can stop sending things you clearly don't want.

3. How and why we use it

UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of your information. Ours are:

  • To deliver what you've bought or asked for (performance of a contract) — processing your workshop registration and payment, sending joining instructions and the replay, sending calculator results you've requested, and responding to enquiries.
  • To send marketing you've opted into (consent) — the newsletter and related emails. You can withdraw consent at any time; see section 4.
  • To run and improve the business (legitimate interests) — understanding how the site is used, keeping records of purchases, preventing fraud and misuse, and following up with existing customers about closely related services. We balance these interests against your rights, and you can object at any time.
  • To meet legal obligations — keeping tax and accounting records of sales.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Marketing emails

If you join the newsletter, or buy from us and don't opt out, we may email you about our content, workshops and programmes. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect promptly. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop service emails you still need — for example your workshop joining link or receipt.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our instructions to run this site and deliver the workshop:

HighLevel (LeadConnector)

Hosts our pages and forms, stores our contact list, and sends our emails and text messages.

Payment provider

Processes card payments securely at checkout. Your card details go directly to them, not to us.

Zoom

Hosts the live workshop sessions. Zoom receives the name and email you join the session with.

YouTube (Google)

Serves the videos embedded on our pages. Google may set cookies when you play an embedded video.

Google Fonts

Serves the typefaces on this site. Google receives your IP address when fonts load.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it (for example to HMRC or a court), or to professional advisers under confidentiality. If the business is ever sold or restructured, customer records may transfer to the new owner under the same protections.

6. International transfers

Some of the providers above store data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law — such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or the International Data Transfer Agreement / standard contractual clauses.

7. How long we keep it

  • Purchase records — kept for at least six years after the transaction, as required for tax and accounting.
  • Newsletter and marketing contacts — kept while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal suppression record so we don't email you again.
  • Calculator entries and enquiries — kept while we have an active relationship with you, and reviewed periodically after that.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Cookies and tracking

This site uses cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:

  • Essential — making the site, forms and checkout work. These can't be switched off.
  • Analytics — understanding which pages are visited and how visitors found us, so we can improve the site.
  • Embedded content — third parties such as YouTube may set their own cookies when you interact with content they serve on our pages.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; the site will still work, though some features (such as embedded video) may not.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access — ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction — have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your information, where we have no overriding reason to keep it.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
  • Restriction — ask us to pause how we use your information in certain circumstances.
  • Portability — receive the information you gave us in a reusable format.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 12. We'll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk — though we'd appreciate the chance to resolve any concern with you first.

10. Children

This site and the workshop are aimed at business owners and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example if we change providers or add features to the site. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version, and significant changes will be flagged on this page or by email where appropriate.

12. How to contact us

For anything relating to your personal information — questions, requests, or concerns — email [email protected] or use terrygormley.com/contact-us.
